Tourlane has committed to offset 100,000 tons of CO2 based on its business operations and estimated passenger numbers for 2020.

Tourlane fosters conscious travel and designs individualized trips for a truly authentic travel experience while keeping the natural balance of the planet top of mind. Offsetting all carbon emissions is one element in the company’s long-term sustainability strategy to be Planet Positive. But we will not stop here. CECIC HKC Danjinghe Wind Farm Project

This Gold Standard project is sited in China. The project consists of wind turbines ranging from 750kW to 1500kW producing renewable electricity for the North China Power Grid. The electricity delivered to the power grid by the project would have otherwise been generated by the operation of conventional grid-connected power plants.

Terraclear Clean water access for families, Laos

In Laos, over 80% of households must boil their water to make it safe to drink. Despite many taking this boiling precaution, preventable illness from drinking contaminated water is still a leading cause of death for children under five. But with a water filter at home, families can produce their own safe water every day.


The filters do more than just fend off thirst and illness. Without the need for boiling water, families are able to buy or collect less wood and fossil fuels, reducing smoke in the kitchen, and protecting Laos’ beautiful forests from further deforestation.

Improved Cook Stove Project 1, Nkhata Bay District, Malawi

This cook stove project is run by RIPPLE Africa (a UK charity) and benefits approximately 200,000 people in Malawi. RIPPLE has so far replaced about 40,000 traditional three-stone cooking fires with fuel efficient cook stoves. This project is reducing greenhouse gases emissions as well as preventing deforestation and respiratory diseases in the population.

This project therefore benefits approximately 200,000 people. The project has lots of benefits because traditional three-stone fires:

  • Consume a huge amount of wood resulting in major deforestation. It also takes a lot of time to collect all this wood. This time can be spent on education and other activities.
  • Produce lots of smoke and so cause health problems such and lung cancer and child pneumonia. This mostly affects women and children.
  • Are unsafe for children.

Salkhit Wind Farm

The Salkhit Wind Farm is the first grid connected wind farm in Mongolia. The project generates renewable electricity using wind power resources and supplies it to the Mongolian central electricity system grid to meet the growing electricity demand.


The project reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by avoiding CO2 emissions from electricity generation from fossil fuel power plants that supplied to the Grid. Clean Energy (CE) is the Project developer and operator. The expected total annual net electricity generation of the Salkhit Wind Farm is 168.5 GWh with an annual emission reduction of 178,778 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e).

The Project takes advantage of the existing Poechos dam of 48 m height and approximately 1,000 m length with a water discharge of 45 m³/s. The water concession granted by the Peruvian Department of Agriculture was based upon the use of the flow required for agriculture – so that generation received lower priority than agricultural needs. The Project will have an expected minimum plant operating life of 40 years.

Institutional Improved Cook Stoves for Schools and Institutions in Uganda

Simoshi is a social enterprise dedicated to improving the livelihoods of children and their families in Uganda. Its energy efficient stand-alone project activity registered with the Clean Development Mechanism and the Gold Standard is capable of bringing a cleaner, healthier and environmentally friendly technology to low-income individuals, especially women and children, by changing the traditional cooking practices used in schools in Uganda.
